Dear Concerned Citizens,

It was brought to my attention today of a malicious ad that attempts to spread false information about my candidacy for Galveston County Sheriff. I want to address the claims made in the ad and provide you with accurate information.

First and foremost, I want to emphasize that I have dedicated my life to law enforcement and public service for over THREE DECADES. My journey began in June 1991 when I joined the Galveston County Sheriff's Office as a part-time deputy while also working full-time for the City of La Porte. Throughout my 32 years of service, I have consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence and the well-being of our community and rising through the ranks to my current position as Major over the criminal investigations bureau.

The ad also claims that Galveston County ranked #2 in Texas for fentanyl overdoses and experienced a spike in violent crime and gang shootings. Due to our efforts at the Galveston County Sheriffs office the numbers have decreased significantly and is no longer in the rankings of #2. These issues are undoubtedly concerning, but it is essential to recognize that addressing them requires a comprehensive approach that involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including law enforcement, community organizations, and public health agencies. As the next Galveston County Sheriff, I am committed to working diligently with these partners to tackle these challenges head-on and ensure the safety and well-being of our community.

Furthermore, I would like to address the misleading statement made in the advertisement, which claims that I am currently under investigation by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for incidents like these to occur during election periods. However, I believe it is important to provide some context to the situation.

After a campaign debate, a complaint was filed against me the following day. It is worth noting that during the debate, we discussed the investigation of my opponent's license status with TCOLE. It appears that this complaint is a direct response to that discussion. I want to assure you that I have always acted with integrity and made sound decisions throughout my career, and I remain confident that the truth will prevail.

To address this claim, I took immediate action this morning by contacting TCOLE to inquire about the investigation. Based on my conversation with TCOLE, I have been informed that my investigation has been completed and no violations were founded Therefore, the text circulated in the advertisement is both malicious and inaccurate.

I am proud to have received endorsements from the current Sheriff Trochesset and two former sheriffs, which speaks to my credibility and trustworthiness as a law enforcement professional. These endorsements underline the faith that my fellow law enforcement professionals have in my abilities and qualifications to serve as Galveston County Sheriff.

As the election for the top law enforcement position approaches, it is important to focus on the qualifications, experience, and track record of all candidates. We encourage Galveston County residents to conduct their own research, engage in constructive discussions, and make an informed decision based on accurate and reliable information.

Thank you for taking the time to consider the facts and for your continued support.

Sincerely,
Ray Nolen

David Donaldson Clear Lake Shores Police Chief

David Donaldson

Police Chief, Clear Lake Shores I am writing to share my endorsement for Ray Nolen as the next Sheriff. After conducting thorough due diligence and careful consideration, it has become evident to me that Ray Nolen possesses the necessary experience and leadership qualities to take the sheriff's office to new heights.

While I have known candidate J. Fullen for decades, my decision to endorse Ray Nolen is purely based on professional considerations. It is important to prioritize the individual who can best lead and bring positive change to the sheriff's office.

I must admit, however that I am disappointed by the lack of open dates without prewritten quetsions. Such debates could provide much needed clarity and potentially be a game changer in the election process. It is my hope that in the future, we can witness more spontaneous and unscripted discussions that truely allow candidates to showcase their ideas and perspectives.

Thank you for taking the time to read my endorsement letter. I believe that Ray Nolen's experience and dedication make him the ideal candidate for sheriff, and I hope you will consider supporting him as well.

Ron Wrobleski Police Chief League City (retired)

Ron Wrobleski

Police Chief (1983-1989), League City In a few days, absentee voting for the primary political races will begin. Among the choices to be made will be who is to be the next Sheriff of Galveston County. The Galveston County Sheriff's Office is comprised of nearly 500 personnel and many technical and specialized departments. As a retired police chief with 40 years of experience, I can tell you that management of an organization of that size and complexity requires someone with knowledge, skills and experience in such an organization. It is not a place for beginners, on-the-job learners, or someone with little management experience in a comparable organization. Major Ray Nolen is that person. His lengthy employment with the Galveston Sheriff’s Office entails holding management positions in various capacities. Currently he serves as head of several departments within the organization including the patrol division. Don’t be fooled by high profile politicians voicing support for a candidate. Friendship does not equate to skills and abilities. It is the candidate who will be doing the job…not their friends. Our continued safety is dependent on someone with demonstrated leadership skills, knowledge of the organization, lengthy management experience, and a hand on the pulse of the communities served. When you vote, I hope you will join me in choosing Ray Nolen to be the next head of the Galveston County Sheriff’s Department.
